Let’s Peppol and Brightest: building a scalable solution for digital invoicing
With the shift towards digital invoicing via Peppol, many Belgian organizations are facing a new reality. While the benefits are clear, the transition often comes with technical complexity and additional costs, especially for SMEs and non-profits.
Let’s Peppol was created to change that. The open-source solution, developed by SoftwareOplossing.be, helps organizations work in a Peppol-compliant way without unnecessary barriers. To support the platform’s growth with the right level of quality, they partnered with Brightest.
“The first steps towards Peppol can feel overwhelming for many organizations,” says Bart Stukken. “Not because they don’t want to, but because it quickly becomes technical and costly. We want to lower that threshold as much as possible.”
Preparing for growth with the right quality foundation
As Let’s Peppol evolved from idea to widely used platform, the need for a structured approach to quality became clear.
“As a developer, you can cover a lot yourself,” Bart explains, “but performance and security are specialized domains. That’s where external expertise really makes a difference.” That’s where Brightest came in. The goal was not just to validate the platform, but to ensure it could scale reliably as more organizations started using it.
A focus on performance, security and reliability
Brightest supported Let’s Peppol with performance testing, security scans and a full functional validation of the platform. “Software should not only work, it should keep working under pressure,” says Kevin Pieters. “Especially for a platform that is growing quickly, reliability is key.”
By combining different testing approaches, the collaboration ensured that Let’s Peppol is not only technically sound, but also ready for further growth without compromising on quality.
A collaboration strengthened by Thor Park
The collaboration between Brightest and SoftwareOplossing.be is also shaped by their shared environment at Thor Park. “The ecosystem here really helps,” Kevin says. “The connections, the support, the companies in the same space… you can feel there’s a community.”
Brightest had already built a strong network through Thor Park, while SoftwareOplossing.be found its place there via Hubs4Growth and IncubaThor. That proximity made collaboration more natural from the start. “Being here is partly thanks to Brightest,” Bart adds. “Thor Park brings the right people together.”
Growing a community-driven solution
Today, Let’s Peppol continues to grow as a community-driven platform, supporting hundreds of organizations. “We want to remain an independent solution that truly works for everyone,” Bart says. “Without hidden costs or data collection.” For Brightest, the role remains clear. “The faster a platform grows, the more important it becomes to keep quality under control,” Kevin concludes.
